Key West Motorcars was founded in the small Louisiana coastal town of Golden Meadow in 1974. Founded by local businessman, David S. Key, the company has since become one of the most iconic and well-known names in the automotive industry. The company has been credited with numerous innovations such as the first-ever fiberglass body panels on a production car, fuel injection systems, and the first V8 engine in a domestic car.

The company was renowned for its commitment to quality, craftsmanship and performance, as well as its eye for luxury and style. Its most popular models included the Key West 1, Key West 2, and the Grand Prix. All models were designed with a classic American muscle car look, with low-slung, aerodynamic styling and eye-catching chrome accents. The Key West 1 was particularly popular for its powerful V8 engine and muscular performance.

Today, Key West Motorcars is still a family business, with David's sons, Jason and Brian Key, at the helm. The company continues to produce high-quality cars with the same commitment to quality, craftsmanship and performance that their father instilled in the brand.
